About This Item
San Francisco: The City Lights Pocket Bookshop, 1955. First Edition. Near Fine. First edition, first printing. Bound in publisher's stapled pages into perfect bound black wraps with yellow card wraparound printed in black. Signed by Lawrence Ferlinghetti and inscribed to owners "Bill and Pat" in the year of publication on the recto of rear blank sheet. The recipients were likely William and Patricia Mandel, William was a Sovietologist and fixture on KPFA, the Pacifica radio station for the Bay area on whose airwaves Ferlinghetti had read his poetry. Near Fine with yellow wraparound rubbed and lightly lifted in places. Pages toned. The author's first book and the first title in The Pocket Poet Series, originally published in a print run of 500 copies.
