D. Appleton. Very Good. 1875, 1878, 1879. First Edition. Hardcover. ; Folio 13" x 10.25". Complete 3 volume set. Three quarter brown morocco leather bound covers with 5 raised bands, brown pebbled boards, and gilt stamping are worn at corners and extremities but clean, bright, and in very good condition. Leather has been treated with professional leather cover preservation gel to stop and prevent deterioration. Boards and spines are straight. Bindings are tight. Gilt page edges all the way around are in very good condition and still shine. Marbled end sheets and paste down are vibrant and near pristine. Frontispieces and plates throughout protected by tissue with barely a hint of toning and no foxing. Pages are lightly toned but clean and mostly appear to be unread. ; 1439 pages .
