About This Item

United Kingdom: UK: The Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland ( Luzac and Company, London, England ), 1967, 1st Edition, First Printing, 1967. ------------( 1st Printing of the First Edition ) ---hardcover, a Very Good+/Near Fine example, a bit of very faint sunning to the spine, a very tidy copy, no dustjacket as issued, ---this copy has been signed and inscribed "Max Mallowan with best wishes C. J. Edmonds 11 November 1970", Max Mallowan was a noted archaeologist who was married to Agatha Christie, ---this copy was part of the Mallowan Collection which was either endowed to or purchased by The Royal Inscriptions of Mesopotamia (RIM) Project, located at the University of Toronto, main campus. Sir Max died in 1978, so I suspect the collection was relocated to UofT sometime in the 1980s. RIM retained volumes that were put into their library holdings with the remaining volumes being sold off. That book sale took place around 2003 when an enthusiastic young archaeologist acquired it who has subsequently moved it along for resale, ---both Edmonds and Mallowan are noted archaeologists, ---a nice association copy of a scarce book, ---the pencil call letters on the signed page is probably a reference number used by RIM to identify this copy to the for sale listing, ---one small ink correction (spelling) on page 40 which was likely made by the author or Mallowan, ---Mallowan was the husband of AGATHA CHRISTIE, any images directly beside this listing are of the actual books and not generic photos /// SIGNED ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE/// ---sizes are approximate (generally within 1/8 inch)---. Signed (see description). First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good+ ( see Description )/No Jacket as issued. Illus. by No Cover Art or Design. 5.5w x 8.75h Inches.
