About This Item
Salt Lake City, UT: Utah Pioneers Book Publishing Company, Publishers, 1913. First edition. Leather bound. 1319pp. Large quarto [31 cm] Full leather with raised bands, a gilt stamped title and designs on the backstrip, and the word "Pioneers" embossed on the front cover. Marbled endsheets. Fair condition only. The extremities are heavily rubbed, and the hinges are broken. The text block is split several times at the beginning and end, and it is pulling away from the covers. The pages at the front and back are either completely detached or only hanging on by a thread (a few have tape in the gutters). There is a former owner's brief notation on the front flyleaf. The pages are age-toned, and have occasional small stains. Edition De Luxe. One of 4500 copies. Number line blank. Hundreds of biographies of early settlers of the Territory. Profusely illustrated with portraits. Through overuse and time this has become an increasingly more difficult item to find in nice condition. Flake/Draper 3182.
