About This Item
Palo Alto, CA: Natural Wonders, 1972. First Edition. Folio (31cm). Tan pictorial wrappers; 216pp; black and white images throughout. Sound, externally rubbed, with heavy fading to spine and borders of wrappers: around Very Good.
First installment of this little-known "literary offshoot of the Whole Earth Catalog" (see bainekerr.com). The editorial team included several people who had also worked on the Whole Earth Catalog, including writer Pamela Frierson, graphic designer Barbara DeZonia, and writer and lawyer Baine Kerr, whose website describes him as a founding editor of Place. Primarily an illustrated literary magazine, but also including an interview with a member of Jefferson Airplane, a guide to constructing a log cabin, a photo essay on wrestling, and "Messages from the Whole Earth Truck Store, Wherein: The Last Whole Earth Catalog is updated" (p.113). Not uncommon in institutions, but some issues (including this one) are difficult to trace in the trade. [63270].
