About This Item
Bellingham: [The Quick Print?], 1908. First edition. 6 x 4 1/2", [36]pp. Facsimile, advertisement. Attached to verso of title is a compliments slip signed "the author." Laid in is a folded sheet titled "Wake up Sane People!" which reprints an 1886 Idaho Democrat newspaper article. Stiff brown wrappers, stapled. Nearly fine with single correction of the typesetting in pencil, ownership signatures also in pencil on dedication page and front cover.
Rare regional temperance booklet, this being a sample copy "sent out in the hope of eliciting interest that will result in orders and increased circulation." The work is dedicated "To the wives and children, the innocent victims of the liquor traffic."

His booklet reproduces four of his own articles on temperance reform from the daily press: "Citizen Makes a Plea for Prohibition Cause" (March 14, 1908); "Temperance Advocate Cites Scripture to Prove His Point" (May 19, 1908); "Value of Alcohol as Medicine Questioned;" and "Opposed to Whisky."
OCLC locates copies only at Washington State and the Ohio Historical Society. .
