Cream buckram titled in gilt within a burgundy strip on the spine, in a printed cream dust wrapper. The dust jacket is slightly soiled and its spine and edges are darkened. There are creases to the inner front flap of the jacket and to the top corners of the front and rear panels. xii & 99 pages plus the colophon, profusely illustrated in color and black & white. Very good. <p>First edition.<p>The work is subtitled: "An overview based on the 3-volume work by Walter Horn and Ernest Born including selected facsimile illustrations in color and black and white, and also a Note on Architectural Scale Models, with illustrations in color of the Reconstruction Scale Model of the Monastery of the Plan of St Gall, as interpreted by Horn and Born, and crafted in basswood by Carl Bertil Lund."

Moderate sunning to spine and bottom edge of front panel. Moderate staining to front panel. Previous owner's signature on front endpaper. Interior pages are bright and clean. The Plan of Saint Gall is a medieval architectural drawing of a monastic compound dating from 820-830 AD. It depicts an entire Benedictine monastic compound, including churches, houses, stables, kitchens, workshops, brewery, infirmary, and a special house for bloodletting.
