London: Printed for G. Nicol, Bookseller to His Majesty, 1803. Two volumes. Octavos, xxii+408+7 pages index & xx.+ 454 +4 pages index. Third edition. The first volume contains information on woodlands, hedgerows, forestry, the history of planting, and the use of place. The second volume contains a thorough dictionary of trees. Marshall was one of the first professional landscape improvers to write a manual. Internally near fine, pages generally fresh and clean. Bound in full calf, spine gilt with raised bands and red and black labels laid-on. General wear to head and foot of spines, and some cracking to the gutters. A good set.
