London: H Woodfall et al, 1768. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo.. First edition thus. Eight volume collection. Samuel Johnson's notes in Vol I are missing 3 pages. The Plays of Shakespeare. First printing of the First Edition. Brown calf boards with gilt border and raised bands and gilt decoration on spine. Title labels all present. Wear to corners. Marbling to page edges and endpapers. Bindings are tight. Scattered foxing throughout. Some wear and tear on some covers, but overall a very fine set. Attractive book plate on front paste down and a previous owner's signature dated 1870. Vol I has a small diagonal cut with loss to front endpaper.These volumes are extremely heavy, please enquire about postage charges.; Very Good 1768
