J. Johnson, R. Baldwin, H.L. Gardner, et al., 1803. First Thus. Leather Binding. Very Good. 21 volumes complete as issued. The first variorum edition, also the largest edition of Shakespeare to date, Attractively bound in full brown period calf, speckled in black and light brown, spines with twin black morocco labels for author and title (at foot), and a small oval black leather label for the volume number as well, edges speckled black, marbled endpapers (some darkening and wear to spines, traces of old smoke damage to spines, covers of three volume discolored, two covers nearly detached; some foxing and occasional stains to text). Engraved frontis in Volume I, folding plates intact and crisp throughout.
