Philadelphia: Published by John Locken, 1844. HB. Green blindstamped cloth, gilt lettering and elaborate gilt designs on spine, 16mo, frontis portrait of the author, and titled The Dream, with tissue guard. Norton (1808-1877) was a novelist and poet, and activist for women's rights, who was instrumental in the passing of the Matrimonial Causes Act of 1857 and the Married Women's Property Act of 1870 in Great Britain. Previous owner's name, in pencil, ffep, no other marks in book, binding tight. Covers show light soiling, corners bumped, gilt lettering bright. Book condition VG.
