Printed for J. Murray, 1790. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall. thin 8vo [2]178pp+plts Spine title: Gray's Poems. 'A new edition' (title page); contains 13 poems altogether, plus an uncredited biographical sketch, Gray's last will and testament, and 'The Tears of Genius: An Ode, to the Memory of Mr. Gray' by one 'J.T.' Also notable for the engraved plates, including the engraved title page, bearing the date 1784 in the plate. Bound in full brown calf, gilt-stamped and decorated spine with raised bands, gilted ecorated covers, green marbled endpapers. Good+ (spine wear to head, foot and edges; rubbing and scuffing to covers, corners bumped and rubbed; slight internal browning and/or foxing, previous owner's engraved bookplate on front attached endpaper). Provenance: Armorial engraved bookplate of William Long, Esquire, on front attached endpaper.7 engr illus (incl title).
