Paris: Chez Knapen, 1789. First edition.. 8vo. Full calf, spine gilt, spine lettered in gilt on a red panel: "Poesie / De La / Montai". Engraved title page. Wear to edges, front hinge cracked but still partly intact, generally very good otherwise. Rear fly leaves have been supplied, and are slightly smaller than adjacent leaves. 164pp. This copy lacking the final 6 leaves (L3 - L8) which print the Table des Matieres and publisher's ads; leaves L1 & L2 are present, which contain the two letters from Voltaire to Montagne. A scarce book.
