George Bell and Sons, London, 1878. Edition Unstated. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition. Memoir, by Robert Bell; with a Preliminary Essay by Rev. W. W. Skeat. The two catalogues at the beginning at and at the end of the book had been printed on a yellow coloured stock. Dark green coloured cloth covered boards with self embossed decoration to the book panels and back strip; gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Volume III of a four volume set of poetical works (or those attributed to) the 15th century English poet Geoffrey Chaucer. The book is in good order for it's age – please see photograph. Softening with a couple of small splits to the back strip edge. Bumping and rubbing to the book corners, a little underlying board is visible. Light tanning and foxing of the text block edges with the pages themselves having only light age toning. I'm pages 190 and 191 a previous owner has done a small flooring to the top edge – please see photograph. The book's hinges have cracked and the underlying webbing is visible. The rear spine gutter has a couple of small holes and rubbing. Please note: – the accompanying photograph looks as if the cloth cover is blue – it is in fact dark green. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [20 – including 15 pages of further titles and publishing house – including the front and pages] 2 - 508, [31 – including end pages comprising a Complete Catalogue of Bohn's Libraries] pages..
