Good/Good. 243 pages, with Selected Reading bibliography. 8vo, flecked cream cloth with brown inset and gilt lettering on spine, foxing to boards and especially top edge, light brown end papers, little shelf wear, in DJ with edge wear, stains and 1/2" tear to back panel, front flap stained brown from newspaper clipping. Names of former owners Profs. Ann and Warner Berthoff written on ffep, to which "With the Compliments of the Author" card is taped. Pencil underscoring and/or marginalia on approximately 10 pages. Newspaper clipping of TLS review by Denis Donaghue is laid in.
