Walt Kelly (1913 - 1973) was an American animator and cartoonist best known for the comic strip POGO. The individual strips were collected into at least 20 books edited by Kelly. One of the best is THE POGO STEPMOTHER GOOSE. Walt received the Reuben Award for the series in 1951.<br/><br/>The principal characters were Pogo the Possum, Albert the Alligator, Churchy LaFemme, a turtle, Howland Owl, Beauregard (Houndog), Porkypine, and Miz Mamzelle Hepzibah, an attractive French skunk. <br/><br/>Contains such classic send-ups as: Robin, The Red Breasted Hood; Willow the Wasp; Hot Cross Buns; The Black Sheep; Hark, Hark!
