Boston: J. T. Buckingham, 1807. These are the first four volumes of the monthly literary magazine published by Joseph Tinker Buckingham. Each volume is bound in marbled boards quarter-bound in leather, with red spine labels and gilt titles. Each monthly issue contains a sketch of some noted person, together with a portrait. Issue Number 1 is dated December, 1805 and is a sketch of the life and writings of the Rev. J. Belknap, D. D. Each volume is signed by previous owners John A. Buckingham, the son of the publisher; Edith Buckingham Ball, the publisher's granddaughter; and James Kimball (relationship unknown). The volumes show modest shelf wear, and rubbing at the joints. The spines are darkened. There is considerable foxing to the leaves, but the text is quite readable. The bindings are all tight.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 24mo - over 5" - 5¾" tall.
