About This Item

London/Ollon: Covent Garden Press/Am Here Books, 1973. First edition, limited to 200 copies, this one of 100 unsigned. Hardcover white cloth boards with black lettering in pictorial dust jacket, 7 1/4" x 9 5/8", 133 pp. Near fine, very good dust jacket with lightly worn, faded, and minor creasing to perimeter aspects.. Port of Saints could be considered a sequel to The Wild Boys: A Book of the Dead, having one, of many, plotlines revolving around characters who appeared in the 1971 novel published by Grove. Characters in Port would also reappear in Burroughs' first work the 1980s, Cities of the Red Night. The 1973 novel was also the last work of Burroughs' to be published during his self-imposed half decade of exile in Europe; and, though the book is dated 1973, it would not be issued until 1975 due to a supply shortage. Limited to 200 copies, 100 of which are signed, this is one of 100 unsigned copies.

Synopsis

Port of Saints is a novel by Beat Generation author William S. Burroughs. First published in 1973, it was the last major work Burroughs wrote during his self-imposed exile in Europe during the late 1960s and early 1970s. One of Burroughs' shorter novels, the book utilizes characters from numerous earlier works, and also introduces characters that would re-appear later in the Burroughs canon.
