New York: George Braziller, Inc, 1958. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. Preface by Jean-Paul Sartre. Translated by Maria Jolas. Fine in a Very Good jacket, clipped but stamped ($4.50), lightly toned and rubbed, a few shallow chips at the head and foot of the spine. Black cloth with white and purple ink lettering and designs on the spine and front board. Square and firmly bound with a grey top stain, clean internally. Sarraute's existential mystery novel about an old man and his unmarried daughter as they try to solve the riddle of existence.
