New York: E.P. Dutton, 1910. Oversize hardcovers with brown cloth spines over tan paper covered boards. Spines lettered in gold, front boards lettered in black. Illustrated by Cecil Aldin with 24 full page boldly colored plates, each with tissue guard containing caption. First American edition. Original back-strips laid down on new cloth spines with some loss ot head and foot of spines. Back-strips dulled and show moderate staining. Outer fore-edge covers of both volumes show fading, most likely from moisture, though inside covers, end-papers and text are unaffected. Old gift inscription dated 1923 on front free end-paper of volume I. A square, solidly bound, internally very clean set of this classic with wonderful Aldin illustrations. Scans on request. A good or better set. A large, heavy set, Priority and International orders will incur additional postage.. First Thus. Cloth Spine Over Boards. Good.
