Describes and illustrates the West of England China Stone & Clay Co's quarries, works, and processes in the St Austell area, including removing overburthen, washing clay, sand drags, micas, settling pits, tramming into dry, clay-dry, clay ready for removal to linhay, sand tips, miners at croust, women scraping clay, drying sheds, quarrying china stone, Pontsmill grinding mills, trucking china stone, launders, cooperage, loading bulk clay into trucks for the home markets and filling casks for export, old horse-drawn waggoning clay for shipment, new-fangled train of covered trucks, and casks of clay on the jetty at Fowey for shipment to America..
