Walter Jack Duncan. 8vo, brown backstrip with gilt letterng over pink boards with light green paper title on front cover, archival mylar-protected pictorial dust jacket (corners clipped by publisher) depicting Shakespeare on theatre platform addressing an Elizabethan crowd, illustrated with line drawings + probably the cover art by Walter Jack Duncan, xii, [xiii-xiv] + 304 pages. Contents are a collection of 42 light-hearted newspaper pieces by Morley. The book is tight and internally clean; light wear to covers; gilt titles on spine are faded. The Uncommon pictorial dust jacket is present, quite bright, with light edge chipping. No marks by previous owners.<br /> <br /> Christopher Morley (1890 - 1957) was an prominent American journalist, novelist, essayist, and poet. He also produced stage productions and was a college lecturer. He is most remembered for light humor, The Haunted Bookshop (1955), and his studies on Sherlock Holmes.
