About This Item
Hardcover. Fair. Fair on the outside, good only inside: pebbled brown cloth and VG bright illustrations and ads for Downs Stationers and Hamburgers (clothiers), Ivory Soap, Knabe Piano-Fortes (Grand, Upright, and Square). Binding fair only, with 2 pps loose and laid-in, lacking page 79/80, though fortunately no ads occur on these pages. Front cover blotchy, corners edgeworn. 138 numbered pps plus index to advertisers, from Bakery and Beef Tongues (W. W. SMOOT) to Lard (CASSARD), Millinery, Music Teachers (The Misses BROWN; Miss Nora FREEMAN), Tea Dealers, Trimmings, Upholstering (Norris & Co., Mohler & Hurbutt), and Upholsterers (Griffith, Lincoln), to Yeast Powder (Rumford). It's still almost all here. Extremely scarce, with no records of auction sales in last 40 years, nor holdings in OCLC. Lovely illus. and 1888 typefaces. Foxing, browning at edges, a few pencil marks, as when a chef wrote SODA next to saliurta or called the Sand Tarts "rich". Closed tears to no more than 4 pps.

About Station North Books
I grade conservatively, personally inspecting all the books and trying to describe their condition so you have no surprises. I aim to underpromise and overdeliver. My best feedback is the (more than) one that says, "Better than described!" I have been collecting books for years and sharing story and ideas as an English teacher since 1987. Ned at NedSparrow.com
