London: John and Robert Maxwell, [ca. 1866].. vi,265,[3]pp. 12mo. Later calf, raised bands, black gilt morocco label. Very clean and fresh internally. Very good. In slipcase. Writing under the pseudonym of "Captain Flack," several early Westerns are attributed to Bolingbroke, including A Hunter's Experience in the Southern States, The Texan Ranger, The Texan Rifle Hunter, The Wigwam in the Wilderness, and the present volume. Much of the action here is set in the Southwest, and includes Native tribes, emigrant trains, bear hunts, and much more. HOWES S32 (note). DYKES, RANGERS ALL 1059.
