About This Item

Simon & Schuster, New York, 1943. 5th printing. Hardcover. Good Condition. Book This early printing is not in collectible condition, though it could be a "placeholder" copy for the collector waiting for copy in better condition and with the dust jacket. The rear cover is Santi's Style #2.1 – "The Little Golden Library" title with a numbered list to #16. Size: 7.5"-8" - Small Octavo (Sm. 8vo). 42 pages. Item Type: Book. The text block is tight, though toned from age. The pages are unmarked, except for six prayer titles that are underlined in pencil in the Index at the end of the book. Bound in the original solid blue spine and paper-covered heavy cardboard. The spine is heavily worn with a 1" tear toward the head and 1/2" loss at the foot. The edges and corners are worn, with the boards showing at the tips. The front cover appears to have been marked with a red crayon that was partially cleaned off, leaving a red stain between and above the children's heads. The listing on the rear cover has four title encircled in pencil and is a bit grubby, as well. There is a small bit of foxing at the bottom near the gutter on the last page. The name of the child who owned the book has been blotted out with a heavy black patterned stamp. The top edge is stained blue. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Children; United States; 1940s; Religion & Theology. Main Picture: Dixon, Rachel Taft (Illus.). Prayers for Children (Little Golden Book #5; 5th Printing, July 1943) - Front cover.
