About This Item

Philadelphia, PA: Quirk Books, 2009. 1st Edition 30th Printing. Soft cover. New/None as Issued. Roberto Parada (Illustrator). Text/BRAND NEW & Bright. First Edition 30th Printing. Illustrated softcover/Fine. 2009 parody of the 1813 regency romance novel Pride and Prejudice. Written by gifted novelist, film director, film producer & screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith (1976 -), correctly assigning co-authorship to Jane Austen (1775 - 1817). This New York Times Bestseller was adapted to film in 2016 starring Lily James & Sam Riley. A mysterious plague falls upon the quiet English village of Meryton causing zombies to rise from the dead. Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennett resolves to destroy the evil menace, but is soon distracted by the arrival of the proud & dashing Mr. Darcy. Replete w/romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, rotting corpses & bone-crunching zombies, the adaptation is an audacious, and sucessful, retelling of one of English literature's most enduring novels. This version of the beloved Jane Austen novel features zombies & blood-soaked battlefields without giving up a delightful comedy of manners & civilized sparring between lovers. Book has proven a satisfying read for literature lovers, zombie fans, and re-animated Austen fans.
