London, United Kingdom: Hamilton, Adams & Co , 1880. James Gall (1808 - 1895) was a Scottish clergyman who founded the Carrubbers Close Mission. As well as writing on religious matters, often from a rather unorthodox standpoint, he had an interest in astronomy. Extension of views from earlier book titled "Stars and Angels". 2ns edtion revised from original run of 1,500 copies. CONDITION Red bds with bevilled edges, Black encised decoration to front and spine, bright Gilt spine title, blind embossed rear bd (clean with very light shelf wear) pp xvi 732 with 8 colour plates and 10 woodblock illus, publishers list to rear. mostly very bright with paste browned eps, light foxing near ends and to edges. Carte de Visite pasted to front pastdown and dated. Nice crisp copy with paper just starting to split at top to front. Overweight. 2nd Edition. Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
