About This Item
[Washington]: [U.S. National Museum], 1894. Maddeningly without contents page or index, but containing much in great detail on sandals, shoes, Inuit snow-goggles, snow shoes, Indian cradles, head straps & tumplines, sedan chairs, sleds, and other carrying kit; including museum holdings of various items and their donors (18 examples of socks, for instance, mostly from Alaska, but some from China). Hardcover, quarter green cloth over marbled boards, worn leather spine label with gilt titling. Edgewear, corners bumped, endsheets brown & brittle, 'title' page and verso of last page also browned, not so brittle, dealers' pencilled notes inside front & back; text okay. Pages 293-593, extracted from a larger work, presumably the annual report from the U.S. National Museum, 1894. Many b/w plates.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good. Octavo.
