Florence: G. Barbèra,, 1906. First edition, published as volume eight of the theoretical series of Manuali Barbèra di Scienze Giuridiche Sociali e politiche, dedicated to Angelo Messedaglia. Professor of economics at the universities of Modena, Padua, and Siena, and a member of the Accademia dei Lincei, Valenti (1852-1920) is described by Cossa as "a meritous agricultural economist", praised for his monograph on the economic ideas of Gian Domenico Romagnosi. Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine and front board lettered in black. Errat slip tipped in at page xiii. Joints and extremities rubbed, short split to lower joint of rear board. Ownership inscription in pencil to half-title dated 1921. Occasional light spotting; a very good copy. Sraffa 6062. See Cossa, An Introduction to the study of political economy, page 508.
