Milledgeville, 1868. unbound. 1 page on "Executive Department" letterhead, 8 x 5 inches, Milledgeville, June 9, 1868. By direction of Provisional Governor Ruger, in part: "...I send you the enclosed printed oath, which please execute and return to this office, to the end that you may be appointed TAX RECEIVER of your County by the Commanding General of the Third Military District, and enter upon your duties...Respectfully Yours, R.L. Hunter." On the back of this document, a former Confederate Major named Frederick W. Fleming has written in brown ink: "The oath required cannot be taken...F.W. Fleming, Lib. County, June 1868." Small water stain on the top edge; tiny brown spot in the left margin. Still very good condition.<br/><br/>
