Good. 377pp; Brown cloth boards with embossed emblem to front, faded gilt titling to spine, spine ends & corners of boards frayed, original blue endpapers, previous owner's name to front pastedown, frontispiece tissue guard intact, light dampstaining to rear pages, text unmarked, binding is sound, Good condition. Scarce, antique first-person account of the imprisonment of Jefferson Davis by the doctor who served as his personal physician for seven months during his captivity. The account is reported to portray the former President of the Confederate States of America in a sympathetic light.
