Preface by Harold J. Laski. Includes Left Book club leaflet. Topics include: causes of the slump; tragedy of youth; slave camps; land settlement; social service centres; fascist danger among the unemployed; etc. At rear is an Immediate Programme of Action for the Distressed Areas, recommending grants for household needs, free school meals, 40 hour work week, one million new houses, and so on.
