Athens: Athenian Society, 1896. Limited Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Faux vellum quarter bound to marbled green boards, gilt lettering to spine. No. 2 of 250 copies privately printed for members of the Athenian Society. Scuffed head and tail of yellowed backstrip. Some scuffs and scratches to boards, edges scuffed with loss of marbled material. Edges well tanned, fore and bottom deckled. Sewn binding is solid but cracked at two signatures and starting to crack on back hinge. Greek text on versos with English translation on rectos. The Secret History of the Court of Justinian. Good condition.
