Harmondsworth: Penguin, 1944. Penguin paperback edition of novel originally published in October 1938. Photograph of author opposite title page. Some very slight wear at top and bottom of spine but this is otherwise a VG tight copy for its time. No inscriptions. Pears Jif shaving stick advert on back cover. 171 pages excluding other adverts for Cadbury etc. One of the first attempts in English Literature to emulate the writing style of Franz Kafka. .
