About This Item
William Collins, London - first edition 1987 hardcover, 9 1/4" x 6 1/4", with dust jacket VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket Brown cloth-bound boards with gold title top spine, family-tree endpapers, 40 full-colour reproductions (some double-pages), 39 b&w photographs, sources, bibliography, index. The Fith Duke of Marlborough brough no added glory to his illustrious forebears; he had fruitless sorties into politics, spendthrift ways, and considerable infidelities. His Duchess wife bore him six children, and finally left him and Blenheim when he fell hopelessly in love with another woman. He was one of the author's ancestors. A well-researched and beautifull book. Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, barcode, pocket etc.
