About This Item
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1966. Book. Good. Wrappers. Unpaginated (16 pages). Paperback program, staple bound with stiff illustrated paper covers. Unsigned lithograph in colors by Alexander Calder spans one interior page, folded in half and stapled as part of the binding to make the first and last free endpage. Ex-Libris bookplate affixed to inside front cover indicating that this came from the library of former Museum of Modern Art Director René d'Harnoncourt. There is some soiling to the covers from handling, along with tanning at the edges. There is a bend at the upper right corner. There is some light staining to the inside front and rear covers from contact with the ink of the print. Aside from the bookplate, there are no internal markings. Text is in English. Published to commemorate the dedication of the then new McDermott Court, which included a major commissioned stabile sculpture (La Grande Voile) by Calder and a special temporary exhibition of his works. Not only a rare piece of ephemera, with a print by Calder, but a nice association with d'Harnoncourt..
