Portrait of Dr. Smith, with autograph. Biography of Dr. Smith. Facsimile of 'America' manuscript. Music and words of 'America'. Dr. Smith in his library on Washington's birthday, 1895. How 'America' was written by Dr. Smith. Dr. Smith's residence at Newton Centre. Reception Committee of Eighty-six, and Executive Committee." Commemorative brochure honoring Samuel Francis Smith, who wrote "America." (The song served as a de facto national anthem until 1931.) 200 x 175 mm. 32 pp. Blue stapled wraps. From private collection. Wraps show minor wear included small split along heel of spine. Pages remain clean and unmarked.
