First published in 1906, "The Man of Property" begins the story of England's wealthy Forsyte family, starting with Old Jolyon and a large cast of other eccentric family members. This edition illustrated in both color and black & white by Charles Mozley, with an introduction by Evelyn Waugh. Sandglass leaflet laid in (New York, no. X:29). --- In full tan cloth-covered boards with drawn portrait of Soames Forsyte to cover in brown, titling in gilt on brown spine block, and brown topstain. Volume protected in brown paper-covered slipcase. --- An excellent copy: clean, tightly-bound, bright and lacking apparent damages. Slipcase also very nice, though with a few scratches. Synopsis
The Forsyte Saga is a series of three novels and two interludes published between 1906 and 1921 by John Galsworthy. They chronicle the vicissitudes of the leading members of an upper-middle-class British family. Only a few generations removed from their farmer ancestors, the family members are keenly aware of their status as "new money".
