About This Item

[1886]. Fair. Strang, James J.. The Prophetic Controversy: A Letter from James J. Strang to Mrs. Corey. [Boyne, MI]: NP, [1886]. Third printing. 38pp. 8vo. Pamphlet. Book condition: Fair with chipped edges, first and last pages detached, and small hole in first page. This letter was sent to Mrs. Corey --who wrote an unpublished history of the Smiths entitled ""Mother Smith's History""-- containing his explanation of his prophetic worthiness. This is in response to a letter Mrs. Corey wrote to her sister, who passed it on to Strang. In the letter she refers to Strang as the ""vain usurper"" and invites him write her to ""show forth his strong reasons"". Rare. Morgan [44].
