About This Item
New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1899. Later impression, originally published in America by Putnam's in 1894. 8vo., brown cloth, pp. 204, [2] publisher's ads. With Le Gallienne's signed presentation inscription, "To T.R. Smith, from his friend the prose fancier- R. Le. G. Christmas, 1917." The book bears a bookplate and previous owner's signature, and Le Gallienne has left his verse comments, " Gay Kathryn Lloyd, who'er she be, Once owned this book, once writ by me; Her pencil marks its youthful page- I wonder what was Kathryn's age! What colour were her eyes and hair, And where is Kathryn now-ah ! where ! These questions, and the volume too, I pass on now, dear friend, to you." Front hinge paper slightly split at base, two small black stains to upper board, cloth slightly frayed at head of spine, extremities slightly rubbed and bumped A very good copy..
