About This Item
Newcastle Upon Tyne: Mackenzie and Dent, 1819. Robert Burns (1759-1796) wrote romantically in the Scots dialect. Here is a lovely, Near Fine copy of the First Edition. Bound in highly-decorative leather: full calf (marbled); fancy spine with five raised bands and a red label; all filled with gilt. Clean text; 610 pages, with Appendix; marbled endpapers and edges. The text is very bright and supple, with minimal discolorations. Armorial bookplate on the front paste-down. Truly a lovely copy, and surprisingly uncommon (Oxford has it, but the LOC only holds it electronically). Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Thus. Full-Leather. Near Fine/No Jacket.
