Limited first edition, lettered, signed and illustrated issue; One of 16 [from an issue of 118 total copies total] marked "Presentation Copy" signed by Charles Bukowski and illustrated with an original signed silkscreen print bound in. Bound in publisher's original printed paper-covered boards over patterned spine cloth with paper title label. Signed on a front bound-in blank where Bukowski has also added a doodle of a bird near the sun and his customary caricature with a jug. Faint rubbing at edges of boards, else Fine, in a lightly rubbed original acetate jacket. A stunning copy of Bukowski's final novel. Krumhansl 139e.
Synopsis
Charles Bukowski is one of America's best-known contemporary writers of poetry and prose, and, many would claim, its most influential and imitated poet. He was born in Andernach, Germany, and raised in Los Angeles, where he lived for fifty years. He published his first story in 1944, when he was twenty-four, and began writing poetry at the age of thirty-five. He died in San Pedro, California, on March 9, 1994, at the age of seventy-three, shortly after completing his last novel, Pulp (1994).
