Brown leather boards, gilt letters on red title block on spine, 631 pp. Text is in Latin. On spine: Horace Delphini. A collection of the works of Roman lyric poet Horace (65 BC-8 BC), with interpretations and notes by Louis Desprez. This copy includes a handwritten letter from American sculptor Harvey Fite (1903-1976) to Jane Byrd McCall Whitehead (1858-1955) of the Byrdcliffe Art Colony. The subject of the letter is a specific quote from Horace, marked here in the book as well, perhaps in Jane's hand.
