In full vellum cover, with elaborate gilt paneled decoration to front board and decorative gilt lettering to spine. Top page edges gilt. Plain endpapers. In very good condition. Some minor darkening and handling marks to cover. Silk fasteners lost from edge of boards. Some minor darkening to endpapers. No previous owners inscriptions. Signed and numbered opposite half title by Illustrator Hugh Thomson. Some light foxing spots to frontis plate, some handling marks to title page and illustrations list. Else pages all very clean and tight throughout. Plates all very clean and bright. Page edge uncut/rough. Else a very good clean and tight copy. 198pp. Illustrated with a Pictorial title-page, and 18 mounted colour plates, each with a tissue guard with b&w drawing & caption. With b&w illustrations in text. Barrie’s play set in a country town during the Napoleonic Wars with lots of maiden ladies and their servants - and the recruiting sergeant. Illustrated by Hugh Thomson.
