John Heywood Manchester undated c 1896. G (no dj, very colourful attractive dark blue cloth boards with bright floral/gilt decoration spine and front board, gilt title panel spine and ornate floral decorations in yellow/red/pale blue, similar title panel and flowers on front board with gilt edges to flower petals, unfortunately there is a heavy damp stain 1" wide down the fore-edge of back board, corners lightly bumped, a heavy volume and front and back hinges beginning to crack but textblock binding remaining firm, all page edges gilt, Sunday School prize plate front fixed endpaper dated 1896,pages clean and bright with occasional scattered light foxing) octavo 642pp. Unusual to find a copy of this very scarce edition by this publisher. B/w frontis and illustrations unattributed but signed ?Chris Hammond.
