8vo. 210 x 140 mm., [8 ¼ x 5 ½ inches]. vi, 380 pp. Illustrated with 20 half-tone plates. Original decorated white cloth; red cloth dust jacket with title gilt on spine. A near fine copy in a dust jacket with some minor wear to the edges of spine and corner. With the bookplate of Carl King on front pastedown.
Second edition. History of the City of Venice with chapters on the Doges, festivals, the lagoon and its islands, the women of Venice, its archive, and the palaces and churches and their collections of paintings.
A better than normal copy, nicely printed by John Wilson and Sons at the University Press, Cambridge.
