About This Item

Purple Mountain Press, Ltd. , 1999. hard cover. Fine. Fleischmanns, New York: Purple Mountain Press, Ltd. (1999). 185pp. Illus. A fine copy. History of the Merchants and Miners Transporation Company, prominent Atlantic Coast shipping company, homeported in Baltimore. Provided services between Boston and Miami. Unique to this line, it was the only major coastal line that did not serve the port of New York on a regular basis. Founded in 1861 it continued to 1952 when various circumstances including expanded competition from rail, truck, and aviation forced it to close down. Cover shows small signs of shelf wear; mild foxing on title page; otherwise a tight, clean copy.
