Thursday Island: Torres Strait Historical Society., 1993. 60pp, appendix, bw ills, plns. White pictorial stapled card. Some light pencilling but generally near new. Details the discussions, arguments and intrigues that led to the start of work on Fort Green Hill, Thursday Island in 1891. Three 6-inch breech-loading guns were installed in 1893 and continued service through WWII. It later served as te loocation ofr a weather station and restoration of the site commenced in the 1980s. Scarce little booklet regarding a little known aspect of Australian military history.. First Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good. 8vo.
