Paperback. 23 × 15cm, 24pp. This is a verbatim shorthand report of A J Balfour's Romanes Lecture delivered in the Sheldonian Theatre, November 24, 1909. It was rewritten and republished in 1910 as 'Criticism and Beauty'. Condition: The covers are in poor condition with creasing to the fore-edge and the spine is torn for the lower 8cm. The contents however are in good plus condition, and perfectly readable with clean pages (bar a little age-toning), and the inner binding is secure.
