Contents clean with tight binding.. Print on cover light. Rare early copy. Joseph Longking was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, England Sept. 2, 1806. In 1819 at age 13 he migrated to America and came to reside in New York, N.Y. In 1826 he became the assistant to the superintendent of the Methodist Book concern who manfactured their own books. In 1846 he became the superintendent. He began writing Longking's Questions and Notes which became the standard textbook of Methodist Sunday Schools. He also taught Sunday School at the Green Street N.Y. Church with a class of over 100. Some of his students included Dr. Charles Taylor- later missionary to China, others included notable businessmen of the era and Church leaders. He later founded the St. John's Methodist Episcopal Church of Newburg, N.Y. (the Methodist Review, V. 3, 47, and 69) Dr. Longking was a friend of Benjamin Franklin. ; 32mo 4" - 5" tall; 128 pages .
